interview with a countess

For our latest brief we were required to interview a character from the book we read over Christmas in the style of the Guardian review. I read Angela Carter's series of short stories The Bloody Chamber and I chose the vampire countess from The Lady of The House of Love.

I felt that I emphasized with her more than anyone else in the book. She can't co exist in a normal society of people and is confined to live alone in her grand mansion. She cannot get close to any other beings as her hunger will always take over any other feeling she may possess. This pains her so.

I did have a lot of fun writing the interview and the planning process in my sketchbook (seen here). I do think the final piece could be improved as the overall composition and the background are lacking. But I think I captured the character how I wanted to. This can all be edited in due course anyway. :)

prada ss12

Sorry for the fashion spam tonight...but this collection is beautiful. It pains me that I will never have that yellow car print dress in my life, unless I rob a bank. And yes that is the reference picture I used to draw Abbey from in a previous post!

SS12 style picks: asos

Upon reading the latest issues of Vogue and Company, it seems that the key trends taking over 2012 are pastels, neons, mesh, white and sporty numbers. Unfortunately, not all of us can afford labels such as Prada and Valentino (one day...). ASOS have pretty much nailed it with these cheaper alternatives to high end style, the first mint blouse especially is very Louis Vuitton with the cut out details in the collar! I will have to purchase some of these, but alas, I must wait till payday!

the art of caitlin shearer

I know I've probably mentioned her before but seriously just check her out she is my current muse.
This is one of her recent illustrations that has made me swoon.
