Illustration Friday is a website that has a different word each week for people to illustrate and submit their response.

I've decided to take part in this weekly challenge, as it's nice to take a break from uni work and also just to get more inspiration to draw different subject matters.

This week's word is 'egg'!

harvey's new humans

A few pages from the children's book I've been working on over the past couple of months. I've had a lot of ups and downs with this brief, but I think it is near enough finished. Obviously things will be tweaked if I decide to enter the Macmillan competition!

the big sleep cover

So I've been working on this for a while but I think I've finally finished my Big Sleep cover pictorially. Bits of the text and blurb will be tweaked before submission to the Penguin Award competition April 9th.

Just a little competition entry for a clothing label that I like called Motel Rocks. It was nice to take a break from uni work!

Last week I celebrated my birthday with a little trip to Rome. It's such a big, beautiful city with many grand sites to behold, but also a relaxing night life with all the little bars and resturants filled with locals. (You have search the backstreets for the best places!)

Unfortunately I wasn't able to do much drawing as we had so much to see in just three days, and even than we barely saw even half of what it had to offer; Rome is huge!

I can't believe it's been a week since I went. I really miss the food...

Little getaways like this are always good for me I think, I feel more inspired after them, which is why I want to travel as much as I can; life is too short!

Anyway, new work will be on here soon. Time to continue cracking on with my children's book brief!

editorial pieces and roughs

For our last brief at uni we were given an article each day for five days and had to come up with a rough black and white rough to illustrate the text. Then we selected the best three and added colour. I decided to paste the actual images into the articles to see how they looked with the text!
